- The Gentleman in Moscow: A Novel by Amor Towles (2016)......this could be a possible discussion book for next year......historical fiction, great characters
- Empire Falls by Richard Russo (2002)...HBO miniseries staring Paul Newman, Ed Harris, Philip Seymour Hoffman & Helen Hunt, but it all started with the book.....
- Maude by Donna Foley Mabry (2014).....possible biography choice for next year...the Evening Book Group discussed it this year....a Michigan connection, her grandmother's story....
- Young Jane Young by Gabrielle Zevin (2017)....by the author of "The Storied Life of A.J. Firkry." A possible discussion book next year.......public office, secrets, double standards....
- Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys (2017)...Winter 1945. WWII. Four refugees. Four stories.
- Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson.....224 pages...answers questions like What is the nature of of space & time?...How do we fit within the universe?....."How does the universe fit within us?
- My Grandmother Wanted Me to Tell You She's Sorry: A Novel by Fredrik Backman (2015).... another novel by the author of A Man Called Ove.
- America's First Daughter: A Novel by Stephanie Dray (2016)....untold story of Thomas Jefferson's eldest daughter Martha "Patsy" Jefferson Randolph.....perhaps a possible selection for discussion next year.........
- Blood & Beauty: The Borgias: A Novel by Sarah Durant (2014)....Renaissance Europe, historical saga, those tempestuous Borgias......
- Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of Family & Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance (2016)....another book that was considered for the line up this year, & perhaps next year we look again.....
- The Nightingale: A Novel by Kristin Hannah (2017)....love & strength in the face of war - this one almost was voted in, perhaps next year.......

- Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel (2015).....dystopian novel, we've voted on this one before, perhaps next year we add it to the discussion list of books.....
- What She Ate: Six remarkable Women & the Food that Tells Their Story by Laura Shapiro (2017)........includes chapters on Eleanor Roosevelt, Eva Braun & Helen Gurley Brown.... perhaps a discussion book for next year.....

So many good choices. I just finished reading Georgie by Robert Bright to my little granddaughters. It's a sweet story about a friendly little ghost first published in 1944.
