| The Phantom of the Opera was one of Broadway's longest running musicals in history; but, creator Andrew Lloyd Webber was unable to work his magic with Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White. The show ran 19 months in London's West End and 3 months on Broadway. The musical closed in 2006, losing most of the $8.5 million it cost to produce. Andrew Lloyd Webber originally engaged his original Phantom, Michael Crawford to play "the Napoleon of Crime" - Count Fosco. www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4eevtkOzwQ "The tale takes in love stories and a sinister criminal plot, but it is also episodic, overpopulated, and told from several, often contradictory, points of view." old building from the outside, roomy and spacious inside. And quiet! The weather has been
beautiful here, hiking and eating whitefish. Yesterday we found an eagles nest on Lake Superior!
I have explored 2 bookstores and purchased 3 books (must support independent book sellers).
I finished The Woman in White prior to this trip and am looking forward to our discussion on
Thursday, October 5th. I requested the soundtrack to Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Woman
in White last week, I'm planning to play the music while everyone settles in, prior to our
discussion.
