on author William W. Johnstone. William Johnston writes about an American West
filled with law abiding men the US Marshalls, everyday heroes dealing with lawlessness.
Johnstone writes of "human decency, respect for the law of the land, and love of
country." Johnstone is "among the top 2 bestselling authors at Walmart and overall around
three-quarters of all westerns sold in any given week are Johnston books." There are more
than 30 million Johnstone books in print, an average of 1.5 million a year.
Did you know that William W. Johnstone passed away in 2004, and now the books continue
with the help of friends and family, very familiar with his writing style. I have never
read this author, and Western themed books are not the ones I reach for. Here is the beauty
of book group, reading outside my comfort zone, experiencing and discussing new worlds.
Who doesn't like a good story where family loyalty and goodwill triumphs over the bad.
Our next discussion book is our first western with strong characters of the American West
and Native American influence. The discussion for The News of the World is May 3.
