will identify, as I did, with the sentiments expressed below. Here are some highlights, and my
observations:
- "The urge to buy books even though you still have too many books to read at home." (I bought 5 books at the Orion Library Book sale yesterday. Meanwhile, the shelves at home are filled with Someday Books, someday I will read them........I will, I will.......)
- "Feeling sad for people who don't really exist." (Or falling in love with characters that don't exist.....Captain Alex Randall of Shadow of the Moon by M.M. Kaye)
- "RUNNING OUT OF SHELF SPACE!!!" (I am now decorating with books, instead of a plant, I have 3 books stacked in an artful position, here and there, and everywhere.....)
- "Getting interrupted when you are on the last few pages of a book." (It is better to read sometimes in an empty room.....)
- "The book hangover. When a good book finishes but you can't start a new one because you're still too immersed in the last book to move on." (As contrasted with a friend of mine, who finds that one satisfying book immediately leads to immersion in that next book...)
- "Waiting so long for a sequel that you forget what happened in the first book." (This is the advantage of having so many books calling my name - by the time I get to that series book, I don't have to wait for book #2 or #3 to come along, they are already available.....)
- "Finishing a book and having to wait a whole year to read the next in the series."
- "Trying to keep the book dry while reading in the bath." (Lovely idea, but who has the time for a relaxing soak, showers are so much more efficient.......)
- "Deciding. Which. Book. To. Read. First." (This leads me into trouble - impatient and eager as I am, I normally have 4 to 5 books going at a time......why wait, when you can begin to savor the story now.......)
- "Getting to a 'can't stop reading' spot in the book and its 3:00 AM." (I love those books that insist you keep turning pages, just one more chapter leads to another and another...)
- "When you have a book with you, but it's not the one you wanted to read right then." (Once again, the beauty of an eReader, is the choices. The downfall - it contributes to my short attention span.....leading me back to the dilemma of too many books calling my name...)
- "Being forced to stop reading by other obligations, but choosing to ignore those obligations. Then getting in trouble." (It builds character, it builds discipline, to be able to put that book down, to embrace delayed gratification, or at least attempt to......)
- "Packing for a trip and never being able to bring enough books." ( I so identify with this dilemma. My solution - pack a Kindle eReader!")
- IF these are my problems in life, then life is good --especially time spent with a book, and most importantly time spent sharing book insights with others. Come to our next book discussion on February 1st. I hope to see you then!
