A.S.A. Harrison first book was published in 1974, based on 22 collected interviews with woman about their sex lives. She titled the book Orgasms. The second book Revelations - Essays on Striptease & Sexuality was co-authored with life long friend and Toronto stripper Margaret Dragu. A collection of essays on striptease, the dedication for Revelations - Essays on Striptease & Sexuality, reads: "This book is for every woman who ever paid the rent in high heels and a g-string." Inside, you find chapters titled "Why Queen Elizabeth Doesn't Strip," and "The Stripper as Activist." Harrison's third nonfiction book was Zodicat Speaks: Discover Your Cat's Astrological Signature. This book was inspired by Harrison's love of her cats. Published in 1996 (available today on Amazon for $5.69), the author called herself Dr. Zodicat. An animal lover, Harrison was devoted to animal rights; she and her husband, John Massey, had an assortment of dogs & cats (no children) at home. |
And finally, Harrison co-authored with her friend, psychotherapist Elly Roselle, Changing the Mind, Healing the Body - Eight Case Studies in Transformational Belief - Change Therapy in 2005. Harrison became "deeply interested in Alderian psychology, which holds among other things that individuals block their own development and happiness by clinging to fallacious beliefs about what they can and can't do." Beliefs that originate in childhood, how they were treated, what they were taught about themselves - beliefs that allow them to function, beliefs that may manifest into physical symptoms. You will recall that Jodi in The Silent Wife is an Alderian psychotherapist. |
