My postings have been sparse lately as I have been away to Amsterdam! First on my agenda was visiting the OBA (Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam = Public Library Amsterdam). The Central Library here is the largest library. They moved to their present location in 2007 and it is a fabulous building - with 2,000 parking spaces for bikes (wikipedia). The Library is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM. It is a light filled space spread over 6 floors. Here is a 7 minute tour video of the library with English subtitles: http://www.oba.nl/oba/english/central-library.html The 7th floor is a cafe, my fig and peach tart was delicious & the views from the outside balcony were wondrous. I love LIBRARIES! |
