Valentine's Day will typically bring to mind the enjoyment of a good love story, whether in life, through
a book, or enjoyed in a movie. And as you know, in this blog, we target books primarily.
The Clarkston Independence District Library
subscribes to the database NoveList. (Anyone can access it from within the library but Clarkston patrons
have access from home.) NoveList is a "comprehensive reader's advisory solution for fiction lovers...and
answers the question: What should I read next?" Out of curiosity, I consulted NoveLIst as to the recommended Classic Romance books. And this is what I found:
- One Night for Love, by Mary Balogh
- Forbidden Magic, by Jo Beverley
- Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte (I love this book! Find it in the library: CLASSSIC BRONTE)
- Possession, by A.S. Byatt (I fell in LOVE with this inventive, smart book years ago. Find it: FIC BYATT)
- Bet Me, Jennifer Crusie
- The French Lieutenant's Woman, by John Fowles (The book has always intrigued me, has anybody read it?)
- The End of the Affair, by Graham Greene (Definitely a recommended author. The book was made into a movie - available as a DVD at the library.)

- Do you agree or disagree with these selections? What books would you add as a Classic Romance?
- Consult your home library for access/help with downloadable eBooks and audiobooks.
- Interlibrary loans can be made for items not available from your home library. Ask a librarian!
- A cup of tea (or coffee), a cozy chair, a lazy cat, a dozing dog, a piece of chocolate = _________________
