me home and yesterday, I read about a 3rd book that must come spend time with me! These 3 books are
all translated works (Swedish, French, Spanish), they are entertaining with happy endings. So, if you are
looking for a sweet book to curl up with on a cold wintry day, please consider these selections.
- Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald. Imagine a young girl from Sweden who is pen
- pals with a woman from Broken Wheel, Iowa; who travels here where the unexpected happens and
- life changes (she opens up a bookstore)....Our bookworm heroine shields herself from life with her
- books, but growth happens here, our character evolves.....This book was originally written in Swedish
- and was a best seller in many countries (Croatia included) according to a reader on GoodReads. You
- can find it at the library here: FICTION BIVALD
- The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George. Imagine a floating bookstore on a barge on the Seine. Our
- main character prescribes novels for the hardships of life. There is an unopened letter that involves
- a quest through the rivers of France in search of answers, involving a woman, a past love. (You may
- be reminded of The Storied Life of A.J. Firkry by Gabrielle Zevin.) This internationally best selling book
- comes from France! You can find it at the library here: FICTION GEORGE
- Love in LowerCase: A Novel by Francesc Miralles was published in this country January 26, 2016. I
- read a review in Publisher's Weekly and an excerpt on Amazon. A lonely linguistics lecturer on New Year's
- Day sees a year before him as nothing more than "passive verbs and un-italicized moments;" but, of
- course this doesn't happen as a cat enters his life and leads him to the mysterious Gabriela. I love
- the dedication quote: "Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the
- big things" - Robert Brault. The novel's protagonist "immerses himself in words, languages,
- and dictionaries of obscure meanings." Read it for the love story, the happy ending, and for the cat!
- This book was released with the title Love in Small Letters in Spanish in 2010. Look for it soon at the library!
- What are you reading? We will spend a few minutes in book group sharing titles. We are a community
- of readers, all looking for that next great book.......
