Huguette Clark sold her first painting three years after her death at age 104 at Christie's:
An American Dynasty: The Clark Family Treasures auction. Seventeen oil paintings created
by Huguette were offered.
The above 2 paintings, as seen from the window of her Fifth Avenue apartment sold
for $19,000 each. The self-portrait of the artist, looking over her
shoulder and holding a palette (see previous blog posting) sold for $13,000.
The painting below, "Portrait of a Geisha" sold for $4,000 at auction.
"Japanese Bridge with Wisteria" by Huguette Clark sold for $16,250.
was valued at $3-5 million dollars, and sold for $3.4 million at the Christie auction.

California.
in a single hospital room for the last 20 years of her life. According to the author of "Empty Mansions," Huguette's favorite late 18th century French fable described the benefits of
living unobtrusively as a cricket rather than glamorously as a butterfly.
Was Huguette a "Quiet woman living in a noisy time..." or was there another explanation
for her behavior?
